Frequently asked questions

How much does such an investment cost?

The cost of building a sports park is influenced by plenty of factors, including the current purchase prices of the materials, their transport distance, the current quality of the site to be built on, and even the quality of the subsoil.

Although a relatively “cost-effective” investment for its popularity, in general terms the cost of building a small pitch starts at around 35 million forints. A figure of HUF 45 million or more would allow the creation of a course suitable for a “Pannon Cup” tournament, with a higher number of users, even with combined course elements. HUF 70 million and above will allow the creation of a multifunctional sports park that will be a national wonder. The indicated prices of the investments included in our projects can help to orientate and align the objectives with the client’s possibilities.

What maintenance work shall I do on my track as a responsible operator?

Pump tracks do not require maintenance. A crushed stone sub-base free of organic matter, proper drainage and a thoroughly prepared asphalt layer ensure the long-term durability of the track.

As with basic sports pitches, regular seasonal cleaning is recommended, but once the pitch has been delivered, no construction maintenance or any other work is required on a regular basis.

Can a pump track only be used with a specially designed bicycle?

Definitely not! One of the reasons why pump tracks have become so popular in recent years is that they can be used with almost any kind of equipment, without any previous training, and with almost any kind of everyday sports equipment.

Although “pumptrack” as a discipline initially became popular only for cycling, in the last decade nearly half of the users are young people on scooters, skateboards and roller skates. Taking these facts into account, our proven method is to use a smaller-grained asphalt layer, laid on a completely scratch-free, smooth surface, which gives room for the enjoyable use of smaller wheeled sports equipment.

How much space is needed to build a pump track?

A relatively small area is needed to build a pump track, a children’s track can be built on as little as 400 m2, but a minimum area of 800-1000 m2 is recommended. Our current largest sports field in Gárdony is 2200 m2. It is worth choosing a central location with sports fields and service facilities.

How long does it take to build a pump track?

Depending on the size of the track, the time of year and weather conditions, construction takes around 2-5 weeks from the first machine to the finished state.

How do I know if my sports field is in good hands?

Everyone on the Northern Lines Ltd team is a cycling and extreme sports enthusiast. What makes each of our projects personal is the fact that the people involved in the construction are realising their own dream sporting environment, which they themselves will later become active users of. It is also the guarantee that the sports parks we deliver will be a marvel throughout Europe, both in terms of functionality and quality.

How dangerous is it?

As with all sports, it also has its dangers, but if the rules are followed and proper protective equipment is used, injuries can be minimised. However, it is important to recognise that we cannot protect our children from the most minor hazards, but by following the principle of gradualism and following the rules of use, accidents can be avoided.
