Red Bull Saint Gobain

Location: Pilisvörösvár

Description

Hungarian MTB racer Oszkar Nagy filmed a very special cycling video at the Saint-Gobain Weber mine in Pilis, after three years of planning and preparation. The idea came from a friend who found the site in 2019 via Google Earth. Oszkár and Viktor Császár professional cameraman spent years shaping the project before they started filming with the support of Red Bull. Filming in the mine presented technical difficulties and physical challenges. Oszi set up various obstacles and tricks on the rocky terrain, which were filmed in the raw footage over 16 shooting days, recording a total of 15 hours of footage and using multiple cameras.

The design of the location also required special attention, including the creation of three main track sections with working machines and hand tools, on which Ossi showed off his skills with tricks, jumps and steep descents. In one of the most spectacular stunts, he launched himself from the highest point of the mine down a steeply sloping 80-metre section, specially prepared for the filming. Among the tricks, Oszi also performed new and complex moves, such as a steering wheel spin, which he performed at the end of the shoot by shooting several dramatic elements, including drone footage.

During the filming, Oscar often suffered minor injuries, so they had to take a break for a few weeks before they could continue the work. After the resumption, due to the summer heat, filming started at dawn to take advantage of the natural light and avoid the harmful effects of the sun on the cameras. The mine’s management, especially the technical director, László Karafa, also supported the project and enjoyed watching Oszi’s spectacular demonstrations.

The uniqueness of the project and Oszi’s daring created an outstanding visual experience, and the video is expected to have a great impact on the Hungarian extreme sports community. The project also concluded with a special, never-before-seen trick that will be shown as the closing chord of the video. The end result is an inspiring and technically stunning piece of work, which will soon be presented with the support of Red Bull, and will bring the world of extreme biking videos in Hungary to a new level.
