What is a pump track?

It is an innovative active leisure park that has gained worldwide popularity for its wide range of uses. Pump tracks are designed so that the athlete can use the energy generated by the obstacles to move around in a ‘pumping’ motion without propulsion or rolling. The track is endless, so imagine a circular track with obstacles of different shapes and sizes.

For whom is the pump track being built?

The pump track is a safe sport for everyone from three years old to 99 years old and can be used with any human-powered rolling sports equipment. The elements can be combined in endless ways to provide unforgettable fun for everyone from beginners to advanced to professional athletes.

Why are these recreational sports grounds useful?

As cycling is becoming increasingly popular, we believe it is important that children learn the basics of the sport in a safe environment. As well as improving coordination, fitness and concentration, it also has a community-building effect, bringing together enthusiasts of the same physical culture, whether children or adults, and let’s not forget that it can also serve as an excellent training ground for professional athletes.

Pump track and the Olympics

A significant milestone in the history of BMX cycling was the debut of BMX cross at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, followed by the addition of freestyle BMX to the Olympic programme in 2020.

Pump tracks and Olympic BMX sports such as BMX cross and freestyle BMX are closely linked. Pump tracks play a key role in teaching the technical basics of BMX and provide riders with the opportunity to develop the skills that are essential for the Olympic Games in a safe environment.
